Aven

Aven — Edition One

Life, without the arithmetic.

Aven reads glucose continuously and delivers the insulin that follows from it. Nothing to count, nothing to correct, nothing to wake up for.

Made for whoever is wearing it.

One size, one placement, one routine — from a six-year-old’s first week to a seventieth birthday. The device does not need to know which of those you are.

03 — The specification

Built for an ordinary day

The Aven pump, seen from above

72hours

Between changes

One cartridge runs three days. Fewer interruptions, and less to remember on any of them.

100%

Of the dose, delivered

Resolved to a thousandth of a unit, so the amount given is the amount the reading called for.

0taps

To do nothing wrong

There is no correct action to miss. The algorithm acts on the reading without being asked.

Put it on and forget it.

Hypoallergenic adhesive

A medical-grade adhesive tested for seven-day wear against sensitive skin. No barrier film, no residue.

Sealed to four metres

Showers, swimming, rain. Sealed rather than resistant, so there is no depth you have to remember.

Comfort, 24/7

Eleven grams and eight millimetres tall. It passes under a sleeve without catching.

05—The method

It decides every five minutes, so you never have to.

Baseline

Correction

Meals

A continuous background rate that follows your own daily shape rather than a flat schedule.

Small, early adjustments when the prediction drifts — long before a reading would alarm.

A rise steep enough to be food is recognised as food, and met on the way up.

A reading arrives, the model predicts where the next hour is heading, and the dose adjusts before the curve moves. Three behaviours, running continuously, with no mode to select.

One screen. One day.

Today’s readings and the predicted next hour

Live readings

The current number, the last six hours, and where the next hour is predicted to go.

The last six hours, as a curve

Your data stays yours

Stored on the device and on your phone. Nothing is sold, and no account is needed to use the pump.

Sharing settings and clinician access

Share with a clinician

A link you issue and can revoke, showing them exactly what you choose to show.

07 — Getting started

Three steps, once.

  1. The applicator placed against an upper arm

    Place the patch

Upper arm or abdomen. The applicator sets the depth, so there is no technique to learn.

  2. A phone held beside the pump to pair it

    Pair the sensor

Hold the phone near it. Pairing completes before you have put the applicator down.

  3. The app open on a confirmed basal profile

    Open the app

Confirm your basal profile once. From then on it runs without being opened.

I stopped planning the day around a number.

That is the whole of it, really. I check it because I am curious now, not because something is about to go wrong.

Wearing Aven since March

A man out running
The first night I slept the whole way through, I did not notice until the morning. That is the part nobody tells you about.

Wearing Aven since January

A child playing at home
My son puts it on himself now, in about a minute, and then forgets about it. That is the whole review.
